Chelsea Walkerow, LPCC

Therapist

Hey there! My name is Chelsea (she/ her) and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. My journey began on the east coast in south Florida, I studied Psychology & Studio Art at the University of Central Florida and then moved west to complete my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of San Diego. I’ve had a range of experiences from providing individual & group therapy to a diverse community college student population to offering field-based mental health services to the most in- need individuals experiencing homelessness, severe mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. I use a person- centered and trauma- informed approach with every client by working collaboratively together to identify what a rich & meaningful life would look like for you.

affirming

I prioritize creating a safe and accepting space for you to be whoever you are. Let’s get curious about what’s shaped you and who you’d like to be. I hope to join you on your continued journey of discovering and developing your authentic self. I recognize that gender and sexuality are spectrums and I’m happy to offer affirming care to my LGBTQIA+ community. Rather than pathologizing the ways we may be different, let’s find a way to celebrate how we’re unique.

DEVELOPING A MEANINGFUL LIFE

I would like to work with you to explore and connect with your authentic self. My goal in our work together is to move towards curiosity and away from criticism. Through identifying your core values, we can begin to live in alignment with who we want to be and who we truly are. This relationship formation with our true self fosters the creation of meaningful life.

MINDFULNESS

I know you’ve heard it before. Mindfulness is a popular topic in the wellness world and for good reason. I utilize various mindfulness tools to help you learn to ground and regulate. Developing the ability to process our emotions, stay connected to our bodies, and then decide how to respond can improve our relationships, including the one with ourselves. I will work with you to find how mindfulness fits into your life.

How I Help:

I know that life can be a wild ride and inevitably we will experience pain, discomfort, grief and loss. It is human to experience a range of emotions and as your therapist, I see my role as normalizing that part for you while also collaborating to identify- what makes it all worth it? Utilizing mindfulness and cognitive behavioral strategies, we can work together to improve your ability to cope with life’s challenges; meanwhile, aligning your core values with committed action so that you can develop a rich & meaningful life. I also offer trauma- informed care by being collaborative, mindful and compassionate with my clients. I am currently training in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy which is a technique used to reduce the symptoms associated w/ trauma by reprocessing how memories are stored in the brain. Ask me more about it!

More About Me:

Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with friends and being outside as often as possible. My self care practices include riding my bicycle or vespa scooter, working out, practicing mindfulness and meditation and spending time in nature.
