Tehya Christine, AMFT
Intake Coordinator | Therapist
Hi, my name is Tehya, and I am an Intake Coordinator at bareWell. As the first point of contact for many people seeking support, I strive to meet you with warmth and respect to honor the courage it takes for you to reach out. I know how vulnerable this step in seeking mental health care can feel, and my goal is to offer an intake experience that feels safe, supportive, and human from the very beginning. I care deeply about reducing stigma and approaching you as more than a set of symptoms – I value your story, your pain, and your resilience.
As a therapist, I work with clients navigating PTSD and trauma-related experiences, depression, emotional overwhelm, shame, self-worth struggles, attachment wounds, relational difficulties, identity exploration, family of origin issues, emotional dysregulation, and patterns of disconnection, people-pleasing, or self-protection. Above all, I hope to create a space where you feel safe enough to slow down, deepen self-understanding, strengthen emotional connection, and move toward greater authenticity, self-compassion, and fulfillment in your relationships and life.
Compassionately Curious
I believe healing begins not through judgment or “fixing,” but through curiosity, safety, and understanding. Rather than viewing people as broken or reducible to diagnoses or symptoms, I believe many emotional and relational patterns once developed as meaningful ways to survive painful, invalidating, or traumatic experiences. Together, therapy becomes a space to gently explore these patterns with compassion while increasing awareness around how they may now contribute to disconnection, emotional pain, or feeling stuck. I value helping clients deepen understanding of themselves without shame, blame, or pathologizing.
Depth-Oriented
My work is informed by attachment theory, experiential and emotion-focused therapies, and trauma-informed care. I am especially passionate about exploring the deeper roots beneath emotional suffering, relationship struggles, self-worth wounds, and protective coping patterns. I’m deeply interested in how early relationships and lived experiences shape the ways we learn to connect, protect ourselves, regulate emotions, and make meaning of the world around us. Rather than focusing solely on symptom reduction, I aim to support clients in building greater self-awareness, emotional insight, and more authentic relationships with themselves and others.
Authentic
Clients often describe me as relatable, understanding, direct, and deeply invested in the work we do together. I value authenticity and transparency in the therapy room and believe meaningful healing often requires feeling safe enough to look honestly at the parts of ourselves we have learned to hide, criticize, or protect.
While I may gently challenge limiting beliefs, self-protective patterns, or ways you may unknowingly be standing in your own way, I do so with care, attunement, and compassion. I believe therapy works best when clients feel both emotionally supported and genuinely seen as whole human beings.
How I Help:
I am particularly interested in and passionate about how early relationships shape our patterns of coping, emotional regulation, and connection. I am of the belief that many of our coping strategies develop from serving an important purpose - to help you survive difficult or traumatic experiences. In our work together, we can gently explore these patterns with curiosity and compassion, while discerning whether they continue to serve & support the life experiences and relationships you want today. My hope is to create a space where you feel safe enough to explore your inner world, deepen self-understanding, and move toward greater self-compassion, connection, and authenticity.
More About Me:
In my free time, I enjoy Pilates classes, hiking, and spending time at the beach. I love reading and consider myself a lifelong student—curious, reflective, and always learning both in and outside of the therapy room.
